Crashing electric cars
The mass market for electric cars has not really begun yet, but already manufacturers want to assure of their safety. Both Volvo and Mitsubishi released footage showing what happens when their electric vehicles are subject to crash tests. Volvo wanted to emphasize that the placement of the battery in its C30 Electric keeps it away from impact zones. Mitsubishi's challenge was slightly different. It needed to prove that its diminutive i-Miev could protect passengers in a serious front-end crash, something Americans used to driving large SUVs and sedans might have trouble grasping.
