For a gaming year that started out with a bang, 2010 has stumbled to the finish line. Of course, it's impossible to ignore the outrageous success of the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops--but aside from that title, most of the second half of 2010 remains forgettable.

Microsoft launches Xbox Live Rewards program
Upon joining the program, gamers will earn Microsoft Points--Xbox Live's currency--by simply using the service. Those who renew their Xbox Live Gold membership for one year, for example, will earn 200 Microsoft Points. Activating and using Netflix on Xbox Live nets users 100 Microsoft Points. According to Microsoft, users will also receive Points for purchasing "select Xbox Live Marketplace content," but the company didn't say which content applies and how many Points users can earn.
