BlackBerry maker picks up Swedish company that delivers user interface designs to a slew of mobile products and that will bring its "talent to the BlackBerry PlayBook and smartphone platforms."

Clearwire will issue $1.1 billion in debt to help fund the company's 4G build. It also announced a new 4G/W-Fi modem.

RIM's BlackBerry 6 OS receives FIPS certification from the U.S. government, which means it meets the security standards required for government agencies and regulated industries.

Nokia's business smartphone chief reveals the company will stick with Symbian as its "primary platform" for business handsets, even when its top-end MeeGo OS is released.
Verizon Wireless will finally hit the switch on its 4G wireless network, lighting up some of the 38 markets in its initial launch on Sunday.
